The Book of Shaugh Parish

‘It’s a Shaugh thing’

Don Balkwill

Front Cover

Old postcards of Shaugh Prior, Shaugh Bridge, Wotter and Lee Moor

Hundreds More Photographs here

This is not a history of the Parish, most of that can be found elsewhere. Although there is some factual material it is an unashamedly nostalgic return to the area in words and pictures from those who have lived, worked or visited there.

The book of Shaugh parish was published in October 2008 by Halsgrove Publishing, price: £19.99. It is a large format (A4), 160 page hardback book containing over 250 photographs, maps drawings and other illustrations. The book will keep our memories alive long after we are gone. A keepsake for anyone who lives in, or has connections to Shaugh Parish.

What people have been saying about the book

Thank you so much for putting together such a wonderful book - I just received my copy from Ros recently and thoroughly enjoyed going through it. The chapter with our family in it is just very special and the book will become something we can pass down to our kids. I hope some day Ros and I will make it over to visit Shaugh to see it all in person

Sue Robinson, Canada

I have so many memories of that time and a lot of the people you mention in your book.Thank you so much for reminding me and my family of them all. This book will be treasured for years

The book will undoubtedly strike a chord with anyone familiar with the area, either as a past resident or visitor.

We have been looking at the book over Christmas and enjoying it very much.

Just a note to say I enjoyed reading your new book. There will be a book review in the next issue of the Dartmoor News.
